Whitney Houston at New Hope Baptist Church

    Whitney Houston was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1963 to John Houston and Cissy Houston, a gospel singer. Dionne Warwick is her cousin and her godmother Aretha Franklin. At age 11, Whitney was following the footsteps of her mother and carried out in the gospel choir of his junior year at New Hope Baptist Church.
